MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – And now they are six. Milan has completed the sixth signing in the summer transfer window. After Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva and Fabio Borini from Bayer Leverkusen is coming Hakan Calhanoglu, a young highly talented attacking midfielder, master of free kicks. An agreement was closed yesterday after a short period of negotiation.
The player will arrive in Milan, today to undergo medical test and if everything goes well as expected, he will sign a 5 year contract close to 2,5 million euros per season. While according to La Gazzetta dello Sport the cost of this operation is 22 million euros plus bonuses (that total should not exceed 25 millions). The formula is still to be defined but probably the payment will be carried out in the next three years.
Manager Vincenzo Montella will be able to count on the versatility of the 23 year old Turkish midfielder. In Germany he often played as trequartista but also as left winger in the 4-4-2 formation or as central midfielder. In short, a real jolly at Montella’s disposal. In the 4-3-3 he can play as attacking midfielder or as winger, just like Jack Bonaventura. In the recent months Hakan Calhanoglu was suspended by TAS. The ban relates to a dispute between Calhanoglu and the Turkish club of Trabzonspor which occurred in 2011 while he was playing for Karlsruher. At the time the 23 year old reached an agreement with Trabzonspor regarding a transfer to the club, before then extending his contract at Karlsruhe and later signing for Hamburg. During this time he has been training with a personal trainer and is now ready to return on the pitch.
Who would have imagined that on 2 July, the new Chinese property of AC Milan would have already spent a high number of million euros to bring in six new players. Yet it is all true. Especially thanks to Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli. Now the rossoneri can concentrate on formalizing Andrea Conti from Atalanta and solving Donnarumma’s renewal case (read here).
